HISTORY OF THECENTER

The Lutheran Fine Art Center was founded in 1968 by an anonymous donor who left funds in a trust for the purpose of awakening persons to the importance of fine art in their religious lives.  The Center is charged with providing enrichment in the fields of art, music, and drama, thereby deepening the commitment to Christian faith.

Since 1968 other anonymous donors have assured the continuing financial support of the Center.

PURPOSE

To awaken persons to the importance of music, art, and drama in their Christian experience and to deepen the Christian faith of their families and fellow church members.

MANAGEMENT

Members of Saint Mark Lutheran Church serve without remuneration on one of three committees:  art, music or drama.  These committees initiate, budget, and oversee plans for the presentation of the yearly programs.  The office of the Center is located at Saint Mark Lutheran Church.  A secretary is available Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon.

Monies from the trust are granted to Saint Mark Lutheran Church.  Lutheran Fine Art Center is charged with the administration and distribution of these funds.  The committees prepare the annual budget to finance the proposed programs for the ensuing year.  The budget is then presented to the Church Council for approval.  The fiscal year is January 1 to December 31.

LIBRARY LOANS

Library loans are available at no cost as an ecumenical outreach to churches within a 60-mile radius.
